What the sealed system is — and how it fails
The sealed system is the refrigeration circuit: compressor, condenser, evaporator and the refrigerant that moves heat out of the box. It is "sealed" because it is a closed loop charged at the factory. When it fails — a weak compressor, a restriction, or a refrigerant leak — the unit can run nonstop yet never get cold. Diagnosing it properly requires gauges, electrical testing and experience, which is exactly why we never quote sealed-system work on a guess.
| Symptom | Possible cause | What we test |
|---|---|---|
| Runs nonstop, never cold | Weak compressor / low charge | Pressures, compressor draw |
| Cold then warm cycles | Restriction / partial blockage | Pressures, temperature split |
| Hot compressor, clicking | Compressor / start components | Electrical test of compressor |
| Oily residue near coils | Refrigerant leak | Leak search, pressure test |
Sealed-system work is regulated — it requires proper recovery, evacuation and a factory-spec charge.
Why evidence-based diagnosis protects you
- No guesswork on big-ticket repairs — gauges and electrical readings confirm the fault.
- Honest repair-vs-replace guidance when a unit is near end of life.
- Genuine OEM components and a factory-spec refrigerant charge.
- 365-day labor warranty, with the $89 visit waived when you book.
Sealed system & compressor pricing
